Famous Musicians from St Albans

Famous Musicians from St Albans

Here at Piano Lessons St Albans we love to inspire our students with the stories of local artists who have made it big. Everybody has to start somewhere, and just think - one day it could be you! Our piano tuition is a great way to speed up the process. Here is a list of some of the biggest names to come out of St Albans and the surrounding Hertfordshire area:

Enter Shikari are now a familiar name to anyone that is into post-hardcore music. Their unique fusion of different sub-genres of heavy metal has gained them a strong following across the whole of the UK and beyond - their 2007 debut album Take To The Skies peaked at number 4 on the UK albums chart, and their subsequent releases have done similarly well. Their relentless touring schedule has earned them a reputation as a formidable live act, so lets hope they make a home visit soon!

Friendly Fires are another post-hardcore act that owes its genesis to the town of St Albans. After meeting at school aged 13-14, Friendly Fires found fame after appearances on Channel 4's Transmission programme and subsequent radio play on BBC Radio 1. After two album releases Friendly Fires are an established act, and we eagerly await their next move.

Chris Clark is an experimental electronic musician whose innovative sampling and resampling methods have helped him to create a uniquely textured sound. Active since 2001, 'Clark' (as he is known) has released over nine records, with more on the way. Anyone who is into electronic or techno music should definitely give him a listen.

Paul Cattermole is best recognised for his work with nineties/noughties pop superstars S Club 7, whose infectious hits have become firmly embedded in our collective popular conciousness. After years of hiatus and partial renunions, S Club 7 made their first appearance with all 7 members in over a decade, on BBC's 2014 Children In Need before announcing a renunion tour for 2015 - watch this space!

Pianist and singer Rob Argent will be better remembered by the over 50s out there as a founding member of both The Zombies and Argent. A pioneering figure in psychedelic and progressive rock, Rob has had a long and varied musical career, even including a classical piano album (released in 1998), which included well known pieces by Chopin and Bach, as well as his own compositions. If you want to learn to play piano like Rob then why not drop us an email?
